Community Choir

Watford Palace Theatre Community Choir

 A fun and friendly weekly choir open to all adults and all abilities.

Watford Palace Theatre runs a weekly community choir, which is open to all, with no audition or experience required. The group focuses on enjoyment of singing, aiming to learn and improve along the way. The choir meets every Wednesday evening from 7.30-9.30pm during school term time. You are welcome to try out a session for free at the start of term- just drop an email to Participation to let them know you are coming along.

This is a recent comment from a choir member;

" If anyone had said I would stand on a stage and sing with a choir I would never have believed them. Thank you all for the confidence and support you have given me...."

The group sings a varied repertoire ranging from show tunes to seasonal favourites and classic pop songs – everything from Gabriel Fauré to Bob Dylan.  In July this year, for their concert on the Palace Theatre stage, the choir sang suffragette anthems, a Verdi chorus, the original hits behind some modern-day football anthems and an assortment of songs from their current repertoire.

Sheet music is provided for those who can read it or who would like to learn, but there is absolutely no pressure to use sheet music, the choir want all our singers to feel comfortable. The choir will be learning lots of new songs after the summer break and we hope you will join us for a good sing, a cup of tea and sometimes some homemade cake!

Our first meeting for the Autumn 2018 term will be on Wednesday September 26th - 7.30pm at the theatre. Email us at or call 01923 810307 to arrange your free trial session. After that, your first term will cost just £65.00 for the remaining 10 sessions (11 in total). You can pay either at box office or bring your money to your second session and we'll do the rest.

In July 2018 our choir sang at two charity concerts in Wales- you can read all about it in My Watford News;

Our Christmas concert, once again on the stage of the Palace Theatre, will be a mixture of festive carols and seasonal favourites.

Come and join us in September - we'll be waiting to greet you at the theatre!

Access and Inclusion

After our refurbishment our building is now fully accessible, with a lift up to the second floor where choir rehearsals usually take place and an accessible toilet by the studio. We run an inclusive and supportive room. We are able to adapt session content, delivery style and exercises to insure that participants with access needs can participate fully. If you have a physical disability, learning disability or are a mental health service user and you have any queries, or wish to check out the building facilities beforehand, please don't hesitate to get in touch and we can arrange an informal chat.
