Hitler's Canary

12 year old Bamse is used to drama: his mother is a famous actress, and his best friend Anton is the most daring boy in Denmark. But in April 1940, when Nazi troops invade, Bamse doesn’t know how to act: should he stay out of trouble, or follow his brother into the resistance and take the most demanding role of his life?

Inspired by real-life stories of the Toksvig family’s work in the Danish resistance, this new musical about a theatrical and somewhat eccentric family blurs the edges between fact and fiction.

Help shape a work in progress and participate in its development, with performances for families, including one day of performance in the auditorium and the other promenading around the Palace. There’ll be plenty of chances to provide feedback!

Hitler's Canary is the Copenhagen interpretation, presented by Watford Palace Theatre and Uterus (Denmark).
