Young Production Team

If you are aged between 14 and 18 and interested in a career in technical theatre then Watford Palace Theatre wants to hear from you! We’re looking for committed, enthusiastic young people with a passion for the technical side of theatre making to come and work alongside our professional team. If that sounds like you, then we are offering a unique opportunity to gain valuable backstage experience as part of the Young Production Team for our forthcoming Hertfordshire County Youth Theatre productions at the theatre.

The Young Production Team offers opportunities to young aspiring theatre technicians to work on a specific aspect of theatre, e.g. sound, lighting or stage management. During the placement, you will be mentored by a member of the Palace Theatre’s production staff, with the opportunity to apply your skills on one of our HCYT productions.

Participants will be required some evenings in the coming term, including attending a few rehearsals, and then for the evenings of the production week including performances at the end of the week on Friday/Saturday evenings and Saturday afternoon. Sometimes this will also include holiday periods, depending on whent the show is.

To apply, all you need to do is send a CV and a short covering letter telling us which branch of technical theatre you are interested in and explaining why you would like to be involved. We will then invite those who are selected to interviews at the theatre. Don’t be put off by this – it’s not at all scary, but we want to offer a realistic experience of theatre work, including the application process.

Applications can be emailed to participation@watfordpalacetheatre.co.uk or sent through the post to:
