Production

The Production Department is made up of five sub departments who all work under the Production Manager. The Production Manager heads up the production team, the production manger’s job is to ensure that all the technical aims of the production are achieved within the budget allocated. This will involve pulling together the work of all the departments to get the show onstage on time and in budget.

Electrics Department
The Head of Electrics, Deputy Head of Electrics, Electrics Assistant install, maintain and operate all the electrical (lighting, sound & special effects) elements of the show, liaising with lighting and sound designers regarding their requirements, taking responsibility for the electrical installation and equipment for each show and (in liason with the building maintenance technician) the building as a whole.

Stage Department
The Head of Stage and Deputy Head of Stage install, maintain and operate all the staging elements of the show and are responsible for the safe use and running of the stage house. Duties include: the installation and removal of all sets, the overall maintenance and operation of the flying system – including doing fly cues during the shows, doing scene changes and taking responsibility for the safety of people working in the stage area.

Stage Management
The Stage Manager oversees the stage management team, liaises with the director & designer about their requirements. Produce schedules for each production. The Deputy Stage Manager manages rehearsals, in charge of the book (script – noting actors movements and technical cues). In performance, makes all the backstage & FOH calls and calls all the cues.
The Assistant Stage Manager sources the props and furniture for the show and helps out in the rehearsal room if required. During the performance they prepare the set and strike props and perform stage cues as required.

Wardrobe Department
The Head of Wardrobe, Deputy Head of Wardrobe (part-time) and Wardrobe assistants (casual) are responsible for realising the Designer’s costume concept within time frame and budget to the highest standard – buying, hiring and making costumes as required; liaising with outside suppliers, freelance makers and other production departments and maintaining all costumes past and present.

Construction Department
The Construction Department are based at the Scenic Workshop in the Watford Fields area of the town the Head of Construction and two Construction Assistants build the sets for the shows within the time frame and budget set out by the production manager and install the sets on stage during production weeks.
